"LOREDAN" Wreck

"LOREDAN" Wreck

10 April 1943 a convoy of three ships, including the Loredan, the Isonzo and the Entella, left Cagliari heading towards La Maddalena.

Around 6.30pm the English submarine "Safari" managed to launch its attack. The Loredan was hit in the stern area by a torpedo and sank almost instantly, resting on its port side at a depth of approximately 65 metres. Almost all the members of Loredan died.

The bow features a large mast extending horizontally from the deck. Rich in biodiversity, there are fish like snappers, amberjacks and schools of anthias.

As soon as you arrive on the wreck it is impossible not to immediately notice the quantity of splendid red and yellow gorgonians that completely cover the ship and make it an obligatory dive for technical divers who visit the area given that it is one of the most fascinating wrecks in the Mediterranean and probably the most beautiful of Sardinia.
